Programme
The original Piper PA-18 with a 67 kW (90 hp) Continental C90-12F engine received FAA Type Approval 18 November 1949. The PA-18-150, PA-18A-150 agricultural aircraft, PA-18S and PA-18AS seaplanes were all approved 1 October 1954. Piper restored the PA-18-150 Super Cub to production during 1988. Later versions differ by having stamped aluminium wing ribs, Ceconite 7600 Flexi-gloss paint, electric fuel gauges, stainless steel control cables, and heavy-duty wing strut fork ends. Piper delivered a final batch of 24 Super Cubs in 1994.In 2002, US company Cub Crafters began manufacturing new-build Cubs under licence from Piper (see Jane's All the World's Aircraft).
